An Appalachian mix of History, Haunts and Haints
Must know FAQ and Policy!
Tours are currently only on Friday nights and begin at 6:45. We do one tour per night. Special tours during October will be available. Private group tours may be available- contact us for more information!
Easy Cancellation Policy:
For a refund you must cancel at least 24 hours before the tour start time. You will need to cancel online or contact us and we will be happy to assist you. Refunds will be less 10% of the total to cover the credit card and booking fee that the systems charge. Sorry about that!
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that everyone pre pay and register through our website. This way we know how many slots are taken and if the tours are filled to capacity. We ask that you contact us within 24 hours if you will not be able to attend the tour. If you cancel after 24 hours you will not be given a refund, but may be given you a rain check to take a tour at a different time.
If you are a no show then you will not be given a refund or rain check and we will be sad.
Booking dates
Be aware of the date you booked your tour for. If you come on a date you did NOT book you most likely will be turned away. We keep our tours on the smaller side for your enjoyment.
Rescheduling:
You need to reschedule within 24 hours of the date or time of when your tour is scheduled to start.
If you reschedule a tour the cancellation policy will be applied- based on the original purchase time and original start date of the tour.
Can I book a group?
Contact us for group discounts. Groups and Private tours must be schedule 2 weeks in advance and based on availability. If you book for a group of people and only a few show up you'll still be charged for the entire party unless you contact us 24 hours in advance. Our cancelation policy will apply. Less than 6 people will open the tour up unless you book a private tour. Contact us and we'll work it out!
Do tours continue in rain and extreme weather?
Tour cancellations for weather related reasons are rare but it is important that we have a valid email and contact number where we can reach you in case we need to make you aware of any changes. If we cancel a tour for safety or weather reasons full refunds will be given. If you cancel- our cancelation policy will apply.
What is the 'no-show’ policy?
All tickets and reservations must be paid or reserved with a valid credit card. Guests who reserve and/or pay with a credit card and then do not show for their selected tour will be charged the full amount of their party’s tour price. We are only allotted a certain number of spaces so please keep in mind if you are a ‘no-show’ for your tour your credit card will be charged the full ticket price for each guest. If you contact us at least 24 hours in advance you may reschedule at no extra charge (subject to availability). All tickets are non-refundable within 24 hours of tour start time. No refunds will be issued for tickets within 24 hours of tour start time.
Departure times:
Please try to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your tour time to find parking and check in with your guide. We must take all of our guests into consideration, so each tour departs on time. Please make sure you are on time as there will be no refunds for ‘no-shows’ ... or as we like to refer to it as "ghosting us". If you absolutely cannot make your tour contact us a minimum of 24 hours in advance of tour time and we will be happy to work with you to reschedule.
What if I'm late?
As it is unfair to other guests we do not wait for late or no show parties. Please remember to arrive at the correct location on time! We do not grant refunds to guests who fail to arrive to the appointed place on time and miss their tour. You can however look for us and join us if you see us.
Conduct:
Please be respectful of your guide, other individuals and private property while on tour.
Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?
All tickets must be purchased in advance.
How long is the tour?
The tour time is approximately an hour and a half (90 minutes).
How much walking is involved and what is the pace?
Tours are about one mile. We walk at a leisurely pace and stop to enjoy interesting and spooky spots along the way. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. There are sometimes places to sit and rest sporadically throughout the tour.
Where do the tours go?
The tours take place in Downtown Blue Ridge.
Are there bathrooms along the way?
Public restrooms are available on the tour at the train depot and at the end of the tour at the park. We advise refreshing before your tour.
Are dogs/pets allowed on the tour?
No- and this makes us a little sad. Service animals are always welcome and we will try are best not to pet them.
Is smoking allowed on the tour?
If you must smoke, please do so away from the other tour guests and guide.
Can I take a video ?
No- videos are not allowed
Do I need to print a ticket?
No printed ticket is required, your guide will be ready to welcome you. When you arrive for the tour, simply tell your guide the name on your reservation and enjoy the tour!
Will we go into haunted homes and buildings?
None of our tours enter any physical locations or private premises. Some of our Haunts are public/businesses that are open during their business hours. Shop at the shops- look for ghosts and support our locals! Reservations are recommended for the restaurants.
Can I change my reservation to a different time or tour?
Yes- as long as you contact us with at least 24 hours notice. We will gladly accommodate your needs by rescheduling.
Does the tour guide accept gratuities?
Tips are not required but are accepted and always appreciated.
Is the tour wheelchair and stroller accessible?
Our tours are available for those with wheelchairs or strollers – all sidewalks have handicap access. Certain sidewalks and roads are bumpy and uneven, they can present a challenge to anyone! If you have any questions or concerns please contact us.
Will I see a ghost?
Many of our guests experience paranormal phenomena and we encourage bringing your camera, EMF readers, EVP devices, etc. Our tours tell the haunted tales of Blue Ridge yet we cannot guarantee you will see a ghost.
A few extra suggestions:
-
Our tours are walking tours, please dress sensibly and wear comfortable shoes.
-
In the summer months the hot evenings can stay in the 70s and 80s. Staying hydrated helps keep your experience fun! It can also be quite chilly (and not from just the ghosts) in the Fall/Spring evenings- dress appropriately
-
This is the South, we do have some bugs! You may want to apply some insect repellent prior to the tour.
-
Allow a little extra time for parking, sometimes it is a challenge in our busy historic district but not generally in the evenings.
